Canopy by Hilton is a locally rooted hotel brand that reshapes conventional ideas by incorporating fresh concepts, creating spaces where locals and travelers alike can discover new charm. At Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, motifs that reframe Osaka’s history, culture, and humor are expressed throughout the interior design and spaces.
Inspired by these brand values, this film was playfully produced around the concept of “Flip Over” (turning things upside down). By featuring dancers and photographers close to the target audience, it incorporates choreography and direction that evoke the concept throughout. Using fisheye lenses and rotating camera work, scenes spin and transition dynamically—“flipping over” preconceived notions to reveal a new Osaka, while realizing a playful visual language tied to the concept.
We also paid close attention to scene progression and music to keep viewers engaged to the end: the first half uses slightly tense music reminiscent of a secret base, then shifts in the second half to an up-tempo track that suggests a creators’ playground, adding narrative and momentum.
The finished film received feedback from the client that it “captures the essence of the brand,” and it has been adopted not only for Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda but also as a brand image film for Canopy by Hilton overall.
