Nanki Kumano is a rural area in Japan, home to the renowned Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes. Over the past ten centuries, people from commoners to the emperors, have made their ways from Kyoto to Kumano. And now, visitors can still trace the footprints of those pilgrims. People of this area have inherited the traditional rituals, festivals, cuisine, and livelihoods for a long period of time, together with the rugged surface of the Earth and its gifts, which accommodates the visitors from all over the world. Nanki Kumano Geopark is the crossroads of tradition, nature, and the land from the distant past to now.
